Would anyone be able to provide me with the diagrams for the Wrexham and Shropshire train sets please.

Will be travelling with them this saturday, and am wondering if I will see the same set when i go from Leamington to when i get back to Leamington.

Even with the diagrams you cannot guarentee what set will be used.

I quite fancy a go on this, given that it seems you can get advance tickets all the way from Wrexham to Marylebone for £10 each way. The only day I can get free to do it though would be Sunday 8th August. Two questions then:

1) Does anyone know of any planned engineering works that might foul this plan up?
2) Given that I can't get from Shipley to Wrexham by train on a Sunday by 10:44 (or there on any day for a non-larcenous price), I'll have to drive to Wrexham. What's the parking situation like at Wrexham General on a Sunday?

Thanks for that. Looking in the all line timetable I can see that on Sundays at the moment the WSMR workings aren't going via Tame Bridge Parkway, some parts of which line are needed by me. Therefore I don't think I'll be doing this until such a time as I can red pen those bits

According to the WSMR website their services do call at Tame Bridge Parkway on Sundays. Its Leamington Spa and Banbury they avoid if there are engineering works on the Chiltern lines.

I expected them to be going WCML - however, last Saturday when (according to the timetable) they weren't stopping at Leamington/Banbury, I saw one pull up at Banbury!

At the moment they are apparently going to Acton Wells, reversing to Neasden and reversing to Marylebone.

In the past they have also carried on through Acton Wells, Acton Mainline, West Ealing, Greenford to South Ruislip and then reversed there back on to the Chiltern mainline and into Marylebone.

You should have no problem parking on Sunday, if you go to the next station Ruabon or Chirk, parking is free of charge,

The parking at Wrexham is I believe £3.70 a day there should be plenty of space on a Sunday

They seem to always run trains between Wrexham & London even if they have to go round the houses to get there. As for what they are actually going to do on a particular date, will have to wait until they issue the timetable unfortunately.

This week states you can use XC services from Banbury & Leam Spa to Wolves before continuing onwards North on WSMR so there is some cooperation but depends where you are travelling between.

ATW report all its services will be bus between Shrewsbury & Wrexham, then
rail between Wrexham & Chester.

So it seems all W/S services will be diverted on these days.

It's better to have busses than nothing to connecting stations on a line that is closed, it isn't physically possible for the trains to serve the stations. As for the WSMR diversions there are 2 choices as far as I can see it, train from Wrexham to Leamington and then other transport to London or trains to London missing Leamington and Banbury, as WSMR is a London Service the latter is the most convenient for 90% of the passengers as they go to London. You can't really blame the operator for the disruptions and to be honest the reasons for the WSMR services being diverted is work on evergreen 3 that when finished will improve the service immenseley.

We travelled back home to Wilmslow from Marylebone (change at Shrewesbury) on W&S yesterday, 11:20 ex-Marylebone. I'd booked First Advance tickets and it was quite excellent.

We'd travelled down first class from Wilmslow to Euston on Monday; fast at about 1 hour 50, but a Pendolino is no match for a Mk3 in comfort stakes, and the so called 'lunch' was a ham roll, cup cake, and a banana! Virgin catering is not a patch on what it was.

The W&S /Arriva journy yesterday took almost twice as long, but the W&S section was superb. The refurbished Mk3s are tastefully done, with modern toilets. Lunch was a selection of soups or salmon terrine for starter, sveral choices of main (we had an excellent lamb shank) and strwberry tart (or other choices) for desssert. We washed this down with a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio (which at £12.50 was well priced!).

W&S - the civilised way to the capital!
