Hey all just looked at this in the wilkepedia and found this:According to a manager at a 'meet the manager' session at Southampton Central on the 17/01/07, five 442 units have been retained until the 10th February due to a short-fall of 444 rolling stock. The same manager also confirmed that the 442 refurbishment programme, which was cancelled within days of the incumbent being announced as the succesful bidder for the South Western franchise renewal, would

would....

Seeing as the insurance on them runs out in exactly 5hrs and 15mins I highly doubt that unless it is renewed.

THIS IS BOLLOX!

Bashed the FINAL 442, Waterloo - Clapham, still a bash!

I had it confirmed yesterday that:-

6 are staying with SWT for the time being, posssibly on temporary a spot hire arrangement.
2 or 3 are going to Gat Ex (2421 & 2414 quite possibly 2424)
7 are going to Southern, there is a concern over pathing though at Clapham on platform 14/15.
2416 could be the first one going to the great big pig sty in the sky due to the non standard air con unit followed by 2415. I expect the rest that are not used to be used for spares.

So Bollox is not quite as it seems.

Cheers

As soon as SWT get the correct amount of stock. This happend on Thursday:-

Code:
     2C17 0820 Waterloo - Reading delayed Clapham Jn 0828 - 0836 =
(1"L/8"L), platform staff report door problems on front coach - u =
458019, service also reported

      Full & standing due to short formation (4 v 8) - ongoing 458 =
shortage.

01/02 0905 HY Service also reported delayed at Richmond whilst
driver contacted "phone a friend" due to fault on TMS -
service departed Richmond 13" late.

So when that stops the piggies will!!!

All 444s are apparently in place for operation tomorrow morning.

Expect absolute chaos tomorrow when the new absolute block signalling at portsmouth Harbour comes in to use and the station sees its first passenger train for 6 weeks!
I reckon any slight delay on the portsmouth line will cause mayhem on swt for the next few weeks (months?).

Hmmm, aren't there still some 458s to be put back in service, 8001/2 are ones that I remember? 8007 maybe?

Sorry I've been away for a few days due to internet problems, was on 2412 on the 10:00 (09:01 from Poole) from Soton Ctl to Basing, saw 2405 on the 10:01 from Poole and rode back on 2410 on the 12:05 ex-Waterloo to Poole on Sat.
