Does anyone have info on them?
When were they built?
Where did the line go to and from that it carried?
When was the line closed?
Shildon rail bridge
I noticed a rail bridge standing on its own in a field just outside Shildon.
You can just see it on the right over the hedge.

Great Broughton
I lived in Great Broughton for a short stint, and wondered when this bridge was built and last used ect...
I know that the line used to go from the ECML and link upto Grosmont station, there is also a link that goes to nunthorpe and carries on.
It seems odd that the section from the ECML would be taken up, and the station at Battersby was left.
If the connecting line from ECML to Battersby had been left in place, it could have made a good diversion route. And could have been a very good rail tour route too.
The track bed is in various states, from Battersby station back to the ECML
There is a garden near Battersby that uses part of the track bed, again i don't know if someone has extended thier garden without permission.
A farm yard wich uses the track bed. (this may or may not be a legal use of the track bed)
A small collection of industrial units on part of the track bed.
The A172 crosses the track bed on the flat.
Another farm yard on the former site of Potto Station.

At the site of Potto station there is also spur that heads south
(not sure where this went)
We then run into the A19 on the flat
and just beyond that a small residence.
Last herdal before the ECML is the 'Station hotel' which right on the ECML between Darlington and York

There was also a freight line south from Battersby across Farndale Moor which featured a stationary engine worked incline which went across to Rosedale Abbey and remained open until 1928. I've walked the course of much of this line, and if I remember correctly much of the engine house and incline head paraphernalia is still extant at the summit.
