Is this ever used by scheduled services nowadays?

And why does it have a trap point at the Country end, but not one at the London end? Is it because it's only signalled for Hove/Brighton-bound traffic, so in effect it's a catch point? Just a wondering...

There's supposedly a 19:33 weekday departure (SX, SuX) from there (Worthing platform 1) to London Victoria. It's used to accommodate the 19:10 from Littlehampton. However, seems to have been, more often than not of recent, switched to platform 2.

Similarly, the 07:57 and 21:45 trains to Brighton on Sundays.

I’d imagine the trap point is to protect against wrong direction movements, the up direction would be unfitted with trap points as there is a tpws grid and appropriate overlap to point of conflict, would be my understanding
