It says CTLZ rather than STNS if you buy from within the Greater Manchester Ticketing Boundary. The difference is with CTLZ you have unlimited free tram travel within the City Zone added to your ticket.

Thanks for that, will remember to use the tram for free next time then.

Where CTLZ tickets are available from extends slightly outside the GMPTE boundary - as far as Knutsford on the Mid-Cheshire line and as far as New Mills on the Sheffield and Buxton lines.

You can't however, go to the ticket office at Victoria and ask for something like a Manchester CTLZ to Macclesfield ticket.

Bath Spa apparently had consent in 2005 for works including installing lifts. It was listed building consent, which might be a clue to what went wrong, but does mean they had detailed plans approved, so they must have thought it was possible.

Southampton Central needs a bit more TLC in my opinion.

A waiting shelter's been installed on the island platform, and a few years ago the waiting room on platform one was refurbished and expanded. But the waiting room on platform 4 is shabby and far too small. The gents on platform 4 need a bit of attention too: one of the three cubicles is permanently out of use, there's graffiti on the walls, and the facility needs a good refurbishment.

More seats could also be installed on platform 4 given that there never seem to be enough.

And, as you may recall when Lord Adonis travelled round Britain with an ALR, he couldn't get anything to eat or drink at the station at 20:30. Perhaps SWT shouuld liase with the owners of the buffets on platforms 1 and 4, but I can't imagine anything happening too quickly

Has the station not got vending machines?

Or is it like my station where vending machines are not allowed as the shop has some contract in that only they can sell food or drinks.

I'd be surprised if any of the above is worse than Bordesley (just outside Birmingham Moor St).

Smelly access through a viaduct, no amenities, no train displays and no shelter. Everything is decrepit or non-existent.

But its principal users are supporters of Birmingham City FC (many of whom appear to be vermin) so I guess they get the station they deserve.

I should hope that a station with single-figured train services per week (except on football days, and even then there are still only a few) doesn't have huge amounts of money spent on CIS, etc!

Well FCC will be spending quite a lot of money this year in the Customer Service department and not just small change either!

So hopefully will be able to remove my station from the worst stations not getting a refurb list!
