Now, forgive my spelling if it's incorrect but I can't just copy and paste as I'm sending this from my phone. The worlds longest railway platform is in India at Karaghpur. It measures an impressive 1072metres (for those who prefer old money, 3517feet). Whilst realising this is big, I wanted to quantify it, so here goes. You could have 4 Deltics, each with a rake of 12 mark2 carriages in the platform with 20metres to spare! That's some platform, and would make some sight too!

I responded this on another thread, anyhow gone now, but up to the closure
of Manchester Exchange late 60s, A platform was shared with Manchester Victoria this was platform eleven, the longest platform in the world.
Exchange Station
Almost nothing remains of Exchange Station except for a bit of a platform, most of the rest of it is buried under various car parks. Exchange station used to stand at the south end of Victoria station and even used to share one platform. This was the longest railway platform in the world. 2194 feet (669m).
It was opened by the London and North Western railway in 1884 as it was not happy with arrangement at Victoria. The LMS linked the two stations by Platform 11 in 1923. Exchange served north Wales, Liverpool via Earlstown and some Trans Pennine services. The station suffered extensive bombing during the war, and when traffic at Victoria lightened in the 1960s, Exchange was closed in 1969. The roof survived into the 1980s, now only some of the platforms and a footbridge remain.

bloomin heck thats a bit big, id love to hear the "i overshot" excuse used here 
You could get five 9-car Pendolinos in that platform with just 16feet to spare. Just goes to show how much longer they are than an HST of 9-car (including powercars). You can fit 5 of them in and a Class 20 with 3 mk1s and have more leftover.

Even with a platform that long, I'd still find it pretty hard to accurateley gauge the braking and stopping of a 370 there...Given that my approach to the city would be somewhere around the 15,500mph mark...bloomin heck thats a bit big, id love to hear the "i overshot" excuse used here

I'm sure if you were to start braking around France or so, I'm sure you could stop in time.

From memory, Melbourne's Flinders Street Station has the 4th longest platform. Platform 1 i think is about 800m or so although now days only part of it is used on a daily basis.
