All that track must have taken a long time to ballast! If it's DCC then it might well also be the world's largest DCC layout

I believe I read on the web site that it took six years to build the layout. As for DCC, the entire railroad is computer controlled. No one is there to operate the trains. They have a tech on duty to keep things running smoothly, but otherwise everything is automated.
