This day is not a good day to travel and there are many bus replacements meaning no advance fares.

I'm looking for WKG to GLC on 01 MAY one YPR and one adult.

I think a throw away return and a split at Wigton *may* be the cheapest. I don't think Edinburgh tickets are cheaper if alighting at GLC and not proceeding further .

Yeah, your problem is a lack of Advance fares up the WCML due to rail replacement buses (RRBs). Prices below are all 1 adult + 1 YPR

Your suggested option comes in at £49.30 (£8.65 Off-Peak Single to Wigton, £40.65 Off-Peak Single Wigton-Glasgow).

You can do it for £46.30 (£13.95 Off Peak Single to Carlisle, £32.35 Anytime Day Single Carlisle to Glasgow via Dumfries). The via Dumfries route is a direct train with services roughly every two hours from 11:15 onwards. It is slower still than the Rail Replacement Bus, but timings are closer to the more direct route than usual and you may prefer travelling by train.

Another alternative is to take a National Express coach from Carlisle to Glasgow. They are all as quick as the fastest RRBs. At the moment you can get fares for two people for £33-£34 from Carlisle on the 1st May, making the cheapest fare £46.95 with Off Peak Singles to Carlisle.
