Ask politely for those not speaking to mute themselves!

If they're the sort who need to mumble while doing calculations, they'd probably spend the rest of the working week still muted!

What is wrong with Office 2013? I use it in work, I quite like it, I was brought up on Office 2003 and I still use it at home though so I am used to ancient Office (I do still much prefer Windows 95 I will not deny, so simple and easy to use)

I'm still using Office 2003 and it does exactly what I need it to - a lot smaller and quicker than later versions. But then again, I had to be dragged kicking and screaming to use MS in the first place as I used to use Lotus 1-2-3 and the Lotus database, word processor and organiser, all of which were absolutely exceptional and ahead of their time. (I have to admit I still have an old DOS machine with Lotus loaded on it and still use it occasionally just for fun!).

Those who play the heating/cooling system in an office because they think it's not getting warm enough quickly or not cooling down quickly enough, then it actually finishes up heating up the office to 28oC in middle of winter or cooling it down to 16oC in the middle of summer.

Yes, indeed, those people who fail to understand that thermostats are simply "on/off" switches and putting it up to full won't make the room heat up any quicker!

• People who put more energy into not doing their job than they would have done doing it properly in the first place

And similarly those who spend so much time whingeing/explaining they don't have enough time to do their job/overworked, that they could have actually done it if they just shut up and got on with it!

People who burp loudly and do not excuse themselves
People who make a mess and leave food rubbish under their desk to go mouldy
People who have become so expert at avoiding work that it's just so much easier and faster to do it for them
People who know everything (no - actually they just look it up in wikipedia)
People who inject themselves into conversations uninvited and because of their ultimate (lack of) knowledge derail it completely
People who can engage you in mindless conversation for an hour but have no time for actual questions (essentially, due to complete lack of knowledge!)

People who access a spreadsheet whilst you are on it and save something.

People who have left a spreadsheet open! Thus making it locked!

A new one for me: recently moved to a new office. My desk, while otherwise being quite advantageously positioned, is unfortunately just outside a shared (and busy) meeting room. Not only do people seem to congregate and have a nice little chit chat before or after a meeting - right by my desk - some have even sat on a set of drawers next to my desk while doing so, which I find a bit rude at best and distracting at worst.

Worse than that, though, are the inconsiderate few who have left said meeting room to take a call - only to take the call right by my desk, rather than going a few steps further out into the corridor. Considerate enough to know it'd be rude to take it in the meeting, oblivious enough to not realise that it's equally rude to do so three feet away from someone who is trying to work.
