Work on Bedford line bridge in Northampton

I commute to Northampton quite regularly and have noticed a lot of work going on over the last few weeks to the bridge carrying the Brackmills (formerly Bedford) line. Does anyone know what work is being done or why work is being done to a completely disused line? Are there any plans to resume freight operations to Bridge Street or Brackmills?

Where excatly do you mean? The Bridge near the car auctions on Brackmllls?

No the bridge immediately south of the junction with the Northampton loop, the one you can see from passing trains. They've had workmen on it several times I've gone past and there's temporary fencing up all over the place.

One of the reasons the branch went OOU was that the long timbers on that bridge were rotten.
