Your best bet is (if you have) talk to some contacts in the know! Thats the best way to get it done!

Try Manchester Piccadilly? I'm not sure on the phone number but you would need to speak to a "Steve Shaw".
That could get you some experience on the platforms and inside staff areas of the station.

I will try that next time im up there.

Do you have any pics of him?
I hang around there quite abit so I probabily have seen him just dont know who he is.
Would I be orite asking at the ticket office if i could get in touch with him or asking some of the guards on duty at platforms etc....??

You're best going to the Network Rail reception desk by exit 3 and asking there.

He's quite young. In his 30s. Brown longish short hair. Blue NR Man Picc jacket.

What red tape?

'Hello sonny, you have to join our group for insurance reasons, if that's OK then sure you can spend 2 weeks here sweeping litter or cleaning windows'.

You just treat it as a new volunteer and forget the work experience bit rather than filling in a couple of forms!

You don't know the ELR. One mention of the word Work Experience and they'll panic.

Finally got a reply from Northern and im not happy with it <(

All I got back was...

'Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately due to the nature of our business we do not have the facilities to provide work experience.'

What the ****!!

Office work?

I wouldnt mind if the person replying would have put a little more effort into the reply...but that has really ****** me off!

Welcome to the Real world i'm afraid, you got a good chance by walking up to them in Manchester and they will give you the actual contact details to the person. Same thing happens with CT. They havn't got the time to me organising all of that so best to find out yourself in person.

What more were you expecting them to have said? :? You asked a question and they gave you an answer.

Yeah. I had office work when I did it. Only cause my Dad got hold of the wrong people though. Was a terrible week until Steve came and rescued me and took me around the station for a couple of days.
