Work between Waterloo and Surbition to overrun

Engineering work between Waterloo and Surbiton at Clapham Junction looks like it will overrun until tomorrow.

Anyone have any idea what work is being done, why its overrun and if its related to the bridge replacement happening on the Victoria lines ?

To get a possession over run is so easy.
All you need is a rubber band on a track lifting machine to break or a hydraulic pipe to bust on a tamper and the job comes to a stand.
In all my railway time, I have spent nearly every Saturday night/all day Sundays on Ballast trains all over the place. This was all in a nights/days work.
Everything came right when you got paid on a Thursday with the overtime you made at the week end.

Of academic interest now it's all over, but as far as the 'rules of the route possesions plan' was concerned there was no actual work being done on the SWML slows, it was part of the possession required for the Pouparts Jn bridge work. When I passed on Monday there was a Kirow rail crane on the up Brighton fast, with its outriggers (legs) extended out over the SWML down slow.

Having closed both lines at that point, the SWT service was affected between Waterloo and Surbiton, but nothing much would be seen happening on the overall route.

The possesion overan because a track worker was seriously injured on site. Work then had to be suspended for the normal enquiries to take place.

Apparently the guys name was Ben he's 28 and suffered very serious injuries to both his legs in an unloading incident. Hope you make a full recovery Ben.

The railway bush telegraph is suggesting some serious malpractice with regard to this incident, I sincerely hope that I am misinformed on this matter though.
