36 WPM here...
206 CPM, and 36/37 words correct - So it was accuracy over speed in this case.
However I have to stake my belief that the test can't be considered an accurate one. As I look at the keyboard whilst typing and the test presents random words (As opposed to flowing sentances) I keep having to look up and "buffer" the words in my mind before typing them out - Whereas those with Pitmans training can concentrate on the screen and don't need to look at the keyboard for targeting purposes, giving them an unfair advantage!
Furthermore, the disjointed nature of the words means that I can only buffer three
words at a time, as opposed to the three
sentances that I'd normally work with. :roll:
Generally speaking; My
true typing speed depends mainly on
what it is that I'm typing...
- If I'm copying out text from a book or off of the screen, then my rate is an extremely slow one - As low as 22 WPM at times - As I keep having to look away from the keyboard and buffer more data from the source media before continuing.

- In forums and similar systems where spelling, accuracy and good grammar are all important, my typing rate is slightly better - Probabally around the 40-60 WPM mark - As all of the data is flowing from my mind and doesn't require looking away from the keyboard at all. However I still check the screen a lot to ensure that my output is correct, and I tend to do a lot of in-line editing before posting, too.

- On informal telegraphs, TTY terminals, instant messengers and similar systems, my rate improves quite a lot - 50-75 WPM as an estimate - as my words'll be read by someone who knows me personally, and thus the odd missed capital or bad punctuation won't matter as much. Not having to keep a continual eye open for errors tends to help typing speed an awful lot.

- Whenever I'm typing out code though (HTML and VBScript especially) my rate goes very high - Maybe as high as 90-120 WPM (Estimate based on own recollection) - Because I normally know at least a paragraph in advance what it is that I'll be typing, and can plan my keyboard strokes well in advance. Also, a lot of higher level languages are fairly syntax tolerant and thus I only have to make sure that I spell commands correctly - A lot of normal human error checking can be thrown right out of the window in these cases!
I might have a go at the test again soon though, this time going for speed over accuracy. That should give me a half decent WPM score...Although my accuracy won't be much better than 5%!
