Worcestershire Parkway to Reading return

Morning,

Just wondering if anyone could find out the cheapest way to get from Worcestershire Parkway to Reading return? I can see an Anytime Day Return for £38.10, but would this cover travel via Gloucester and Swindon as opposed to via Oxford? I live in Gloucester, so my mate would have done a round trip if it was valid? Also, I know on the Cotswold Line it is mainly Turbos for the time being with the Hitachi problems, so they may be quite full.

The Anytime Day Return is routed via Evesham so can't be used via Swindon.

If you want to travel via Evesham, the cheapest flexible option is splitting Off-Peak Day Returns at Oxford - total cost £30.60. Your first valid train would be the 08:21 but that's cancelled under the current emergency timetable, the next one that's running is the 09:22.

Return is valid at any time from Oxford but there are some evening peak restrictions from Reading. However these don't apply if using XC, which you probably would be doing at the moment as most Cotswold Line services are only to/from Oxford.

Depending on when you want to travel, you could split at Swindon and Didcot for £36.50 using off peak day returns to go via Stroud - there are morning restrictions during the week though (and some restrictions on the return leg from Reading to Didcot in the evening).
