Worcester to Highbridge via Bath

I'll be buying the off-peak Return at £49.30 from Worcester Foregate Street to Highbridge & Burnham, departing Monday, returning Friday.

I would like to visit Bath Spa for an hour or two on (preferably) the outward journey.

If I put "via Bath Spa", no valid ticket is available as of course it is out of my way.

However, if I put "via Westbury", a valid route appears at the £49.30 price, for example Worcester-Gloucester-Westbury-Taunton-Highbridge (passing through Bath Spa). It takes twice as long but I have all day so it doesn't matter

Please can somebody confirm this is a legitimate way to break the journey at Bath Spa on a Worcester to Highbrldge ticket.

I haven't checked the routeing guide, but in principle you don't need to. If you have an itinerary that gives you that route in connection with the purchase of a ticket, then the route is valid.

There are no break of journey restrictions, so the break of journey is allowed.

It would be a good idea to carry the itinerary with you in case the gateline staff at Bath Spa (or, indeed, anybody else who checks your ticket) don't realise you are on a valid route.
