Worcester to Cardiff Central

Hello all,

Could any of our ticket/fare wizards tell me if the turn-up-and-go single fare of £29.50 can be bettered by splitting tickets en route?

I am travelling on Tuesday 12 April, off peak, to arrive any time before 15.30 and require a single fare only.

You can change at Bristol Temple Meads (there are no direct trains so you have to change somewhere)

WOF - BRI
11:02 - 12:35
£11.10 - Off-Peak single

BRI - CDF
12:54 - 13:43
£4 - Advance
£10.60 - Off Peak Single

There is also a £4 advance ticket on the 13:54 from Bristol to Cardiff arriving at 14:43

Total: £11.10 + £4 = £15.10 (Advance)
Total: £11.10 + £10.60 = £21.70 (off-peak)

£7.50 anytime single to Cheltenham £15.80 anytime day single on - advance single of £12 on some trains

If you want to go via Hereford it's a bit more expensive but you can split there and still beat your original fare

Worcester Foregate Street to Bristol Temple Meads Off Peak Day Single £11.10. This ticket is valid via Hereford and Newport. Travel short and change at Newport for Cardiff.

Newport to Cardiff Central Anytime Day Single £3.90.
