Worcester Shrub Hill platform canopies

Recently I’ve noticed that every platform canopy support on Worcester Shrub Hill station has been boxed in with white cladding. Does anyone know why? Photo attached.

Don't know specifically why they are mixed in but the whole canopy is undergoing co plate renovation including sandblasting to remove all paint and primer and get the columns to bare metal. Some kind of protection I immagine.

Wonder if they’ve discovered high lead levels in the paint and want to stop people licking the columns before they’ve had a chance to remove the offending paint.

Your comment sounds ridiculous except. At Snow Hill Station a few weeks ago there was a person licking the gate to the staff car park so it's entirely probable.

Having grown up in the West Midlands I can confirm this is completely normal behaviour.
