Don't see what's shocking about her use of a desktop computer. She's at a table for one, not bothering any other passengers. What's shocking is taking a photograph (or more?) of her and allowing it to be circulated over the internet, possibly for profit. If I were her I would bring an action for invasion of privacy.

Seriously? You are in a place that has no realistic expectation of privacy. She wouldn't have a leg to stand on for any kind of court action.

I think I read somewhere that she had actually traveled from somewhere like Texas so had probably managed to put it in her luggage...

They’re not actually too heavy...the best travel related item I saw was someone on a train in Japan who had hooked up their Wii U!

If all these people got together, they'd have quite a decent set up. Sofa, fridge, iMac, although a man with a coffee table really needs to join them. And not forgetting the kitchen sink.

I saw a man carrying a kitchen sink on the Prague metro yesterday (seriously, it was a new one from a DiY store obviously)... If only I'd taken a photo it could have provided endless pointless filler for our newspapers... Those mad Czechs eh?.. Actually carrying things, on the train... Crazy!

I used to have a fat PS2 whichhad an LCD attachment that fixed onto the back and folded down on top of the PS2 just like a laptop. One evening on a busy XC service while the various suits had their laptops out doing their office the tasks I plomped my ps2 onto the table, plugged it in and promptly started to play GTA Vice City, at 125mphon a voyager! the look on the suits faces was priceless!!! XD

I took a small ladder on the Tube in 2013, but that was for the steam train photo on a bridge west of Bayswater station.

I have over the years conveyed all sorts of unlikely items by train, but that was back in the good old days of proper trains with guards vans.
I took care to avoid peak times.

I found that wearing an orange overall helped a lot, no idea why

Relatively recently I conveyed a roll of armoured cable in the power car of an HST.
Staff at Paddington were very helpful, no help needed at Taunton as I was being met by others to help unload. It weighed 74 kilos, and I had a first class ticket.

Seems perfectly reasonable to me, I took one home on the bus back in the 70s.

A stainless steel sink and drainer unit isn't that heavy and certainly not worth the expense of hiring a van just to bring it home.
