Hi All, can anyone advise of any cheap splits or alternative tickets for a return to Huddersfield from Wolverhampton? Travelling tomorrow and returning Wednesday, no railcards. I would like to arrive in Huddersfield around dinnertime and leave dinnertime Wednesday. The off peak return comes in at £41.70 but I`m hopeful that it can be done cheaper...any ideas? thanks in advance for any help offered :D

That's already an excellent value ticket, which is valid at any time. This ticket is a popular ticket as part of a combination of tickets to reduce the cost of longer journeys.

If you were returning the same day, you can save about £2 by purchasing 3 x Day Returns instead. Trainsplit will tell you the splits you need (Stafford & Stockport).

As you are returning the same day, no it's not going to be cheaper to split, as Day Returns aren't going to work.

Thanks for the very quick reply Yorkie :) I had no idea that it was excellent value having never been to Huddersfield before and this being a last minute decision so thought I would ask the question lol...brought up with the adage " if you don`t ask then you don`t know". I`m guessing that it is used as a split towards Scotland stations?

I was thinking more along the likes of West Midlands to West Yorkshire, many of these flows are priced by XC and cost three times that price before 0930.

However, as a ticket from anywhere in the Midlands to Wolves is cheap and anywhere within West Yorkshire is cheap, the solution is simply to "split".

Ah I get what you`re saying and will try and remember your advice for any future journeys to that part of the country :) Thanks again :):)
