Does anyone know what the major engineering work between Wolverhampton and Sandwell and Dudley is about over the Easter weekend?

It must be major work if it's a total line shutdown.

S&C renewal, probably a bit of prep for next years re-sig aswell.

OK, I thought it might have had something to do with the plans to re-build Dudley Port station. Or is that still an NR aspiration.

And anyway I thought the station would have had to have been closed for months and the old platform demolished before track realignment work could begin.

The one immediately beyond the Birmingham end of the station (junction for the line to Darlaston/Bescot).

Eh? none of that is happening, just a straight like for like re-signalling with slightly better headways to Brum.

Affordability. Trains go in and out of Wolves steel terminal most days though. What it would cost to straighten would never be recouped in benefits.

You will probably find some very detailed information on the "Alterations, Diagrams Timetables" Board under the topic "Engineering at Wolverhampton 29 March" last post on 19th February. The occupation has already been discussed at great length here.
