Maybe. But I think it ¡s the main news & info site that subscribers pay for and that's apparently not affected.

Indeed. Other than the fact he obviously cares about the forum if it was lost forever it wouldn't harm him in any way. Some money is raised from contributors but that just pays for the running cost. The WNXX forum couldn't possibly be described as a business.

I can see there is a plain page saying forum closed with links to the forum and login page, and then another bot checker page before taking me to the forum. Any plans to open the wnxx forum with those two blocker pages in place?

I had that last time it was down. It wasn't the case in the end, just a by-product of the protections put in place temporarily

That’s right. Clearly the issues are being worked on - the WNXX website today has the following message:

“The forum - is still very much un-useable due to the swarm of 'bad bots' overloading systems for a few days (at one point on Monday 29th over 9200 'guests' were present at the outer sections of the board - they can't access anything at forum level) but now the database table is throwing up errors (assumed because of the recent overload of activity) and is failing.
Database restores have been undertaken but this has caused more errors!”

The wnxx website has the following message:

"The forum - was back in operation as of the afternoon of the 30th, with more details posted to the board regarding this, but by the afternoon of the 1st, the bad-bot invasion was back and the board has again been overwhelmed.
A ticket has been raised with the hosts which has to go to a higher level than available yesterday morning (Saturday) so is scheduled to be looked into during Monday (4th)."

Have tried to log in twice this morning and am getting the "Invalid Certificate" page. Could this be a reoccurance of their previous issues with Bots not so lomg ago?

WNXX is fine (and I believe always has been) is WNXX Forum which has issues and, indeed, I'm having the same problem as others. Getting a Cloudfare error for an Invalid SSL Certificate. I think that's not actually a bot issue and server configuration issue on the WNXX side, but I'm not an expert...
