Thinking of applying for this, Crewe station is in walking distance, but already sat in the Avanti Talent Pool for around a year. At what point do I put that at risk if I apply for WMT?
I’d say go for it, if I was in your position. What avanti depot you in for? Manchester? It’s a tough call but if WMT was going to get you training this year, again I’d risk it. Someone correct me but all you’d have to do is the MMI, never know, they might just accept your CBI as a structured interview pass.

They do offer a "have you passed a Driver assessment in the last 5 years" option and IIRC on the day they did take some Avanti passes for Stage 1. The fact some who took tests in Feb are starting courses in September might be your incentive if Avanti are taking a long time...
That’s actually good info and it’s no secret avanti are prioritising qualified drivers over trainees for driver training. On what you have said, if I was in his position, I’d apply and see what happens. Especially if he can (no guarantees) be in the classroom in under a year.

Thanks - I've put in an application, suppose I can always withdraw once I've given it more thought. The form did ask about pervious assessments so will see if it get's anywhere.

Good luck! Exactly - they can be pretty helpful when speaking with them. I only missed out on a WMT Enhanced pass on the TEA OCC but passed everything else so here's hoping!..
Good luck! If you manage to talk to anyone from recruiting, ask them about the time scale of you being in the pool till offered a course. If it’s sometime next year then you never know, Avanti could offer you a place beginning of 2025. Anyway just be aware of your options.

Hi All - I've just seen this too. I was recently rejected by Avanti due to them filling their Trainee Train Driver vacancies with qualified drivers, even with passing the assessments. Do anyone know if the application would be a blanket 'no' if you live over 60-minutes away? Google Maps says it's 70-minutes for me, but I would potentially be willing to move closer.
Sorry to hear that with your Avanti application but since you’ve passed all their assessments to enhanced standard, I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t put an application in. Definitely apply and see what happens, as you know you might have to sit the MMI but in your position, it’s a risk worth taking as you won’t need the CBI pass for Avanti anymore.
You will need to sit the MMI if you pass the initial sift and video interview. Doing so would override your CBI for Avanti. Still worth applying and make that decision when the time comes

Yes, normally very strict with the 60 minute mark given the swathes of applicants within the limit. WMT do not usually consider relocation due to the same reason.
There’s a thread regarding the December 2023 intake and in it someone has recently had a job offer starting in September.
It’s for a talent pool though so who knows. Could be one month, 6 months, 18 months or may never get offered a job if there are a large number of people in the pool who score higher.

There are trainees who have just started handling, so likely the next course will be around December. Though we have a few instructors not with trainees so could be sooner.
The idea with this is to have enough to fill 3 lots of 6 trainees.

Usually a week or so minimum, I can't remember how long it took me to hear back in January but it wasn't that quickly.
With the last intake in which people done their one way interviews they heard back roughly 3 weeks later.

I did video interview end of Jan in previous campaign and still haven't heard back!
Did it definitely submit? I know some people have had issues where they have had to download it and send it manually as there has been technical issues.

Yes, as they emailed to say not apply for this process as my application is still live. I left it last minute to do the video interview, so guess they had already put enough through to next stage so didn't get to mine.
