does anyone anticipate any problems with the fact that WMT have essentially paid for my OPC assessments, waiting for a dmi and then I go off with another TOC?

I don't think that should be much of an issue. I passed my OPC assessments for Overground LOROL but didn't subsequently pass their DMI. I later applied to WMT, and with previous OPC test results, was invited straight to a DMI, passed, and offered a job.

Each TOC pays for the OPC tests, and the results are valid for a couple of years, so they know that you could use it to join somewhere else if they don't recruit you.

I think most drivers will say it's better to get your foot in the door, and then move TOCs once qualified, but that is up to you and your circumstances etc.

Hi guys, for the DMI when you need to know about the company, do you need to know about WMT or Abellio?

Hello mate. In my DMI they asked about WMT, and I went into some detail about WMT and their services/staff numbers/stations etc. I didn’t mention Abellio and they seemed happy with my answer

Okay thanks for that mate. When did you have your DMI? Have you had your results back yet? What was the overall DMI like?

Overall DMI was pretty good, it was quite long but the interviewers were nice and friendly. A lot of the questions are similar to what you might face in the MMI.
It was done online on Microsoft Teams. DMI was last week and they gave me the result two days after

I attended the stage 2 assessments in Watford on Monday, found out about 2 hours later I'd passed the MMI, but no news on the DMI yet
Hi, can I ask how you found it? I have mine tomorrow and I’m feeling quite anxious about it. I have been watching this forum for a couple of weeks and it seems that there are 6 questions asked but they do appear to differ.

I think everybody's experiences are different. I found mine full on and it lasted 1.5 hours with lots of other questions asked on top of the 6 I wrote down on the paper they gave us. I scoured this forum and prepared for all the questions I could find. Better to be over prepared than under prepared :)

Ok - thanks for that. I am definitely over preparing but still think I will forget everything at the time. Fingers crossed

I felt exactly the same! They're lovely people at the OPC. We're our own worst critics and you will overthink everything once it's over. I did and was surprised I passed. I thought because of how long it had lasted and the amount of questions she asked I wasn't saying the right things she wanted to hear.

Do you mind me asking what other kinds of questions? Obviously not verbatim just a rough idea please.

How did your interview go, any tips if I get to this stage?
Hi, had an email yesterday informing me I've got to the next stage. I would say just make sure you try the practice tests first. Puts you on the spot if you're not used to that sort of thing. Not something I've ever had to do before.

Had my DMI yesterday and received my email this lunchtime saying I'd passed!! Good luck to everyone waiting to take theirs!
Congratulations! I had my Medical on Weds, so just awaiting those results. Should be all good though hopefully.

Hi Guys, congratulations on passing the DMI's. Bet it's so relieving after the long process? Passed the online interview, just waiting for date for OPC now. Is there anything you'd recommend starting to practice before being given any info from TOC

Cheers mate!

I would say have a look at MMI questions on here and just prep and practice a decent amount of questions.

The test practices are good that you will be sent but go online and find some hard copies of the group bourdon test. I found some online and practicing them made me way more confident.

Hi, guys what’s the medical like? What does it consist of?
Nothing out of the ordinary...eyesight, hearing test, ECG, blood pressure, drugs and alcohol test and a standard medical history questionnaire.

I'd really recommend scouring this forum for all your questions. It really is a wealth of information. I found everything I needed :)

Thank you, did you find out if you had passed your medical straight away or was there a wait?

What depot have you applied to?
I put down for New Street but it sounds like I might be at Snow Hill. Guess I'll find out soon enough. Still in disbelief I've made it this far. Won't feel real till I hand my notice in at work. Exciting times :)

Thanks for the info

Printed some off yesterday morning so will get practicing. I take it the test is still on paper? Hopefully you'll be starting training soon then?

My course starts 9th August. The first lot of test were on paper, including bourdon (I did mine in Birmingham). Then the computer tests and MMI at Watford.

I'm assuming that will be the same for you. But I think they used to do the paper tests, computer tests and MMI on the same day at Watford.

anyone hear anything for DMI who applied to New Street? I'm starting to think WMT have forgotten about me. I waiting around for a medical elsewhere and dreading the invite to do it if I'm honest, i wanted to know how i stood with WMT first as they were my preferred but if i get an offer i don't really have much of a choice.

Also, does anyone know, for the medical and drugs test, I foolishly took some co-codamol recently for a headache, i know for a safety critical role opioids are a no no, but does anyone imagine that may cause a problem on a medical say three weeks later?

I had my medical last week and I'd taken co-codamol the week before due to wisdom tooth pain. I declared it at the medical and the nurse didn't sound concerned :)
