On the 17th September, a member of the revenue protection team scanned my ticket and interviewed me under caution. I was travelling on a child ticket and short faring. When asked what my age is, I gave a fake date of birth in which they clocked, I was 19. They then gave me a caution "Anything you say or do may be used against you etc". Then they asked me would i prefer an interview on the spot, or a letter to my address, which I responded with address. For the following few weeks/months I was terrified of what the outcome would be, as I had committed a few offenses at the same time. On November 10, I received an email (to my surprise, I expected a letter) which contained the general letter WMR sends out to everyone. On the same day I apologised and sent an email to WMR Digital Fraud team. On the 21st November they responded saying they needed proof of age, address and a railcard which I used on another day, which I wasn't eligible for. On the same day, I responded with another apologetic email and provided proof of the things required, via my drivers license and just told them I do not own any form of a railcard. An hour later, they responded saying I owe them x amount and the payment should be made within 7 days, and then the case will be closed. I sent payment within an hour of this, and just today (24th November) WMR said they received the payment and have now closed the case.
I wanted to write this to show if you are in the same predicament as me, dont stress and let it take over your life. As long as you cooperate and are apologetic, the case will be solved.
