Apologies, trying to catch up,
Is it just 3 Class 196's in passenger service thus far?

Reading the thread I've got...
196101: 17/10/22 1G05 06:51 SHR-BHM
196108: 06/11/22 2G18 16:47 SHR-BHM
196110: 01/11/22 1G05 06:51 SHR-BHM.

Is that correct, any to add/correct?

That’s correct

101 has worked the most services so far. I believe today was 108s first day in revenue. 110 started on Monday.

According to the excellent Part Time Spotter Team website there are three Class 196s in service today!

196101, 196108 & 196110.

I assume this is now becoming a steady increase in usage as drivers complete training ?.

Does anyone know if there are any out on Saturday and/or Sunday? I might go and try one.
I believe there’s one or two out on Saturdays and Sundays now, as there’s one all-day diagram now in the hands of the 196s.

I've no idea how many drivers require training tbh, so I don't have an answer to that.
If referring to Worcester 70+ initially. When all outstanding training is done with new drivers it will be 90+. First one in service from Worcester in March with hopefully 20 + mainline drivers done, starting in Jan. Between now & then it’s shed drivers, instructors & driver managers being trained.

I saw driver training on the snow hill lines a fortnight ago using 196102, it was on approach to Stourbridge junction.
Does anybody know the numbers of the remaining WMR 170's?

This has come up many times before I know, but I want to get the most up-to-date information:
What are the 196 diagrams for tomorrow and Saturday? Thanks.

If you do find out I'd really appreciate finding out, as I'd like to go and find one tomorrow (or if not then Sunday) but not have a wasted trip! :)

Thanks for posting these updates.

They'll be coming to a station rather closer to you soon enough...

The 172 interior is more basic and a 2+3 configuration in most carriages, the 196's use the same seats as the FLIRTS, other than that they are the same.
Had my first 196 experience (110, Telford to Birmingham) last weekend. The seats are truly awful. Vastly inferior even to a 700 or 350/2.

I think it’s a new diagram added every few weeks, the Shrewsbury line should be fully 196 operational by the end of the year
Based on my admittedly limited experience thus far l'm going to miss the vastly superior 170s.
