WM Trains Assessment day

Hi all,

I have an upcoming assessment day with Abellio West Midlands trains for a trainee driver position and was wondering if anyone knows what the day consists of? It’s supposed to be four hours long but the practise material I have is for every test, many of which other TOCs seem to use for stage 2 assessments. I’ve prepared for the lot but would be nice to have a rough idea what we’ll be doing! It seems the only common first stage test is the GBT.

In Birmingham, they don’t tell you that before you book it though! If I knew I’d have picked an afternoon assessment, it’s nearly two hours away in good traffic...

I applied mid March, got an online assessment emailed to me a few days later and invited to the assessment a few days after that. The assessment was held today.

How did you find the assessments? Is it enhanced or national standard?

I felt I didn’t do terribly, but the results take up to a fortnight, so we’ll see! WMR use the enhanced standard of testing. I’m unsure if anyone uses the National standard now, seems everyone is enhanced...
