With the news that Aston Villa are looking to expand the capacity of Villa Park before Euro 2028 (some games will be hosted in Birmingham) there is talk again of the redevelopment of Witton Railway Station, which is located about 250 metres from the stadium. Except for some optimistic but non committal statements in the media from the football club and local government, and this page on the West Midlands Combined Authority website from 15 months ago, there is precious little information out there. Does anybody on the industry side of things have any information?

I am not on the industry side, but I know that the plans include new passenger shelters, a new footbridge, better and safer queueing systems and higher capacity (longer) trains. Also potentially an exit at the other end of the station.
