Just idly letting my memory banks recall the famous Club Car train service to and from Manchester that went up the Atherton line, crossed the Bolton to Westhoughton line on a bridge near to Crow Nest Junction, then up the long branch chord through Hilton House then Dicconson Lane & Aspull, before joining the Bolton to Chorley line in the Blackrod area

Both Bolton and the two Wigan stations by-passed in one fell swoop....:D

... at the moment the issue is that the Bolton commuters are taking up a lot of space on the Scotland services going a short hop while there is relativley enough capacity to absorb them on other Bolton services and a high frequency...

That is not my experience! ;)
