I didn't realise that we now had control of the weather... but presumably anywhere if we did :P

If you mean where would the train have turned, would it have changed ends at B'ham New St, leaving the way it entered, and going "round the houses" through Duddeston, Aston Witton, turning off before Walsall (I forget the jumction name) and coming back out on the normal route around Soho?

Edit: Edwin beat me to it!

Appears to have been on time at Wolves, so I assume reversal somewhere between there and Crewe.

Odd that it lost time NORTH of Wolves. Could it have reversed there then run Dudley Port - Soho - Perry Barr- Bescot - Bushbury?

But would have expected that to cause more delay.

That seems to be the best bet so as to turn it as soon as possible. There was delay so don't know where you were getting more delay from

Looks to me as if it ran exactly as booked but at reduced speed and then they fixed it during during that extended stop at Crewe.

Looking at the full details on Real Time, the main delay occurred between Madeley and Crewe. Could the set have reversed at Gresty Lane? I'm not sure whether the necessary tracks are electrified though.

The train in question didn't get turned around, well in a way, it did as it was swapped at Crewe with the 09:55 Manchester to London. The set from what was originally going to London went to Glasgow and the set with the windscreen wiper fault went to London.

Thanks - I'll pass that on to the travellers, who were as bemused as I was to know where the train could have done a 3-point turn.

Ah! That explains it all.

I doubt the signalling allows it, let alone paths, but is there not a theoretical electrified reversing opportunity at Earlestown?
