He threatened to buy a Mac, which understandingly upset the (as you put it it) poor thing.
The poor thing understandable feels insecure. Meanwhile Apple knows for sure you'll return back to Mac OS and helps you install Windows onto macs. And if you don't it doesn't care because enough girls use Mac OS X without swearing at it.
Not running .exes sounds like a bit of a farce.

Though Intel Macs can run Power PC executables, PPC macs can run classic mac executables, both an run universal apps, java applications by standard, and unix-compliant executables compiled for it, running in the X11 environment with an optional download.
Not that windows can't run java applications with the virtual machine downloaded, nor can it not run the same unix executables compiled using MS studio with enough tweaking and fiddling, as well as the X11 environment with much difficulty.

Though those who perhaps find it difficult to understand even the concept of a file will be pleased to know that most applications come as a "package", ie a single icon. This contains every file the application needs.
This single icon will often be the only thing on a cd, or the only thing in a compressed medium downloaded from the internet, often as Gizzy said a dmg.
And installation is as simple as dragging this image wherever you want it, the desktop, application folder, documents folder.
And uninstallation is by deleting it or putting it in the trash can.
And you can make a short-cut for it in the dock ("menu" of programs at the bottom of the computer) by dragging the icon into the dock. Click on it to load it. Drag it out to get rid of the shortcut. In fact you can move the application file anywhere on the hard drive and the dock will "know" where it is.
Nice and simple?
This is a picture of the dock by the way:
Beats the start-menu?
