I can't buy either of those arguments. There's a big difference in compatability between Mac, Linux and PC.

MS are a huge company, I can't see them going into administration.

They are split into different sectors though, so they could see one being scrapped (here it's windows), and carry on with the rest of the company. But, if it was to happen, Microsoft would loose a lot of money from it, and probably go into administration later on in the decade or so.

Well, as we've seen MS are cutting back on game development. I can't see Windows being scrapped though, that's their major product!

No - but I can see them whirling themselves into oblivion.

MS are like any huge company - they spread themselves over loads of bases, and ensure that they have profitable bases that subsidise the areas that make huge losses, in particular R&D, which is given the attitude "throw money at it in the hope it works".

MS are forecast to be given a huge kick in the balls - in sales, profits and revenue. They've let themselves grow unchecked really. Apple are growing more powerful, and other alternatives are becoming more favourable.

Couple this with record fines from the EU for breaking competition rules, expect a decreased presence certainly here in Europe.

They probably won't disappear - just contract remarkably quickly and we can laugh at them.

Correct. No doubt if they get into any form of financial trouble they receive a US Government backed billion dollar bail out.
