Wimbledon Loop 319s

Whenever I use the Wimbledon Loop, it has always been on a 319 and no other stock e.g 377s.

Why do Thameslink allocate the 319s on the commuter and Wimbledon Loop services rather than using 377s,387s? I know eventually the 700s will take over.

Its because the Brighton services are all Electrostar and 700, 319's are only on the BML on Sunday's. The 377's also work on some Thameslink services into Kent and sometimes operate for Southeastern (although I'm not sure if they still do that)

Because, frankly, they prefer to have the better stock on the longer distance diagrams to Brighton and Bedford where people are more likely to be making longer journeys. Also the better acceleration helps with journey times and the timetable on the MML fast lines.

319s are probably less suitable for long distance journeys anyway (no air con, 3+2 throughout, 319/0s and 319/3s don't have first class), so it makes more sense to shove them on a route where none of those things matters as much (well, AC does, but there's less expectation than in a long distance journey).

Some Sutton diagrams have now gone over to 377 operation, though, eh the 1839 ex Blackfriars via Mitcham Junction is one...

There's a few 377s round the loop. Got notice today that they plan to have the 700s around the loop in November, just testing at Wimbledon and tulse hill still

There was a 387 on the loop too at one time
