Willesden - Worth a visit?

I am thinking about taking a trip round to Willesden when I am in London next week. Would this be a worthwhile visit?

I'm sure when I went to the Old Oak open day back in 2000 it was as simple as taking the underground to Willesden Junction and the depot area was the other side of the driveway from the underground station. Am I correct in thinking this (Google maps doesnt really help)?

If so can you actually see anything from public areas? I was hoping to see some of the 86's & 87's that are stored there. Although based on receent photos it appears that these are stored inside the sheds as opposed to in public view.

Any help and experiences would be appreciated.

Went past on a train today and there are 6 outside the shed, 3 at the north end (86213, 86401, 86701) and 3 at the south end (86101, 86702, 87002). Think they are the correct ones anyway.

The j3 at the north end should be ok from the high level platforms but the others would probably be better from the footbridge over the WCML, someone else will hopefully be able to tell you directions to the bridge.

By coincidence I used the famous footbridge for a photography session today!

Exit Willesden Junction, turn right ( follow the Hythe Road signposting ), go down some steps, turn left under a brick arch bridge towards the depot; immediately after passing through the arch you will see the steps leading up to the footbridge.

Be aware there was a notice up warning of an unspecific closure of the bridge between now and the 10th June for some work that requires the walking surface to be taken up. I gathered from engineers in the vicinity that the work will take place in the space of only a day or two, but it could be at any date before the 10th.
