We are already seeing people being charged more for starting short when using advance fares on e-tickets and no touch having been recorded at the starting station, although this is admittedly easier to catch.

That is true at the moment.I was only trying to the make the point - which I repeat - that if the station where you finish your journey early has no barriers or staff there wouldn't be any problem.
