Will fares rise for students going home?

Heard a universitystudent on the radio saying that as the Goverment are making them travel during a period of time -and some will be allocated a day to leave - that they should pay the train ticket!

There's nothing to force anyone to leave in the travel window. Many of us here are leaving afterwards for various reasons. We've spoke to security and they couldn't care less what we do.

If the plan mentioned two posts above yours is correct, I would have thought that all students would be required to use the dedicated National Express coach to their locality after being tested, so would not be using the train at all for this 'evacuation'. What I would be interested to know is how much National Express will be charging students for their journey, considering that there are over a million of them to ferry 'cross the country.

Then you thought wrong Will, very wrong. Anyone who thinks students across the UK are going to travel home just by coaches for the Christmas holiday aren't living in reality.

If they can get a coach ticket for a tenner v. a train ticket for perhaps three or four times that much, surely many of them will take that option.
