Gooogle UK don't seem interested, which does seem rather characteristic of what seems to be an attitude that this is just an American thing and doesn't have anything to do with anybody else. This would seem, though, to be very far from the case.

Yep, but each language has its own separate database of articles so there's a lot missing. Obviously you'd be fine with the major stuff but not for things like 'New Mills', which I just looked up on Ze German Vikipedia.

You can get an article about Gran Mánchester on the Spanish wikipedia and low and behold, an article about New Mills on the Dutch version.

Oh, the Polish version of wikipedia also has a nice picture of New Mills at the side of this article.

Aside from the government, in my opinion, most of the American public are fine and many probably won't support these actions. Although having said that, there is a very vocal minority who seem to think their way of doing things is the ONLY way. They are constantly bashing "brainwashed European liberals" (as they put it) on another forum I frequent.

Yahoo! Answers is a breeding ground for Republicans, it's hilariously sad how brainwashed they are.

I agree with that. It's quite easy for people on the outside to confuse the views of the people with a government's views.

It does seem to me to be rather missing the point, though typical of modern society, that the BBC'S technology reporter on the News on the Radio was, rather than worrying about the reasons for it or the issues involved, more interested in suggesting sneaky ways that you can get round it.
But this is typical of modern society.

That is what democracy is all about. Imagine living in a state where the internet was banned. You would always find people trying to circumvent the methods used to stop this happening.

Definitely, which is exactly what the pirates do and will continue to do. In my opinion it cheapens what they're trying to achieve but then perhaps it's just because I'm largely impotent to change events.

I don't get it. Although they're mainly in the eating contest or the game corner (although in HeartGold/SoulSilver (HGSS) they had to change it to card flipping due to gambling laws and kids I believe)

You can thank the EU for that. They insisted on the elimination of all references to gambling except where specifically mentioned in the age guidance, which would raise the 3+ rating to something ridiculous.

Platinum was the first game to suffer. It is also why there is no Game Corner at all in Black and White.

The Main Page has been blacked out to raise awareness of and protest against SOPA and PIPA.

Bulbagarden joins many other sites in opposition of broad censorship and its inevitable erosion of free speech.

If you live in the United States, the most effective action you can take to help stop this is to call your representatives and tell them you oppose SOPA and PIPA, and any similar legislation. Those of you outside the United States may petition the US State Department.
