Hi
Priv question regarding Wightlink.
I understand that a dated box gives you free travel (pre-1985 staff).
What's the procedure at Portsmouth?
Do you just get on the ship, or do you need to go to the ticket office and get a boarding pass?

If you have a dated box (for pre 1985 staff) then just get on the ship (catamaran).
No requirement for a boarding pass or any other ticket.
Show your pass to the ticket inspector at the ticket barrier before entering the ship and you will be "counted" on his hand-held counter which monitors the number of passengers entering the vessel.
I used the Portsmouth-Ryde service twice in July on fine, sunny days.
