Wigan Wallgate - Signal Box (Not the existing one)

One for those more familiar with the Wigan area that I am….

This picture shows a DMU heading out of Wallgate Station towards the Bolton/Manchester direction in 1982. However, there’s what appears to be a signal box off to the right. The boxes around Wallgate were consolidated in 1941 into the one that’s still there today, so what’s the “box”?

It's the old defunct signal box from the first LYR Wigan station in 1877. Think it was converted to a house, no longer there now.

The Wigan No. 2 signal box seen in the 1980s. The box had opened in 1877 after the first Wigan station had closed. The box closed on 27 July 1941.
