769s change at Ince when heading to Southport, and stay on AC for the handful of times they run into Wigan North Western at night

How is that going to work? Unless they are going to Wigan North Western.
It happened once as a football special returning people from Horwich Parkway.

And I'm pretty sure I've heard it happen with a Manchester Victoria - Wigan North Western peak time service getting diverted via Bolton when there has been an issue on the Chat Moss route. One of those services where the unit needed to be at Wigan.

Hourly 769 to Southport as post 2 notes. Though the wires are less well used between Ince and Wigan.
There are 2 booked per hour 1) Stalybridge - Southport (via Man Vic and Bolton) and 2) Manchester Ox Rd-Southport (via Bolton) as far as Ince.
There are 2 services later in the day that are electric through to Wigan NW (to allow the units to get to Allerton TMD and/or Springs Branch as needed), but currently the wires are not used at all between Wigan NW and Ince.
There are 8 diagrams on the Southport-Stalybridge/Manchester Oxford Road circuit but only 6 769's are diagrammed, the others being 150/156's.

Of course in these parts two points should be made:-
1) very few days when all 6 769 diagrams are actually 769's, usually 4 or 5.
2) 769's don't work on Sundays, indeed for well over 12 months nothing has worked between Wigan via Bolton to Manchester on a Sunday due to the 6 day railway that the conductors work............
