Wifi on London buses

This is a very good idea. Given extortionate data roaming costs (up to £12 as megabyte for some outside the EU, up to £2 for those within it) it costs more to plan a journey than it does for the tickets to take it. Having free wifi at every bus stop will give tourists the freedom to properly explore London and use journey planning services and maps as well as keeping in contact when about London.

I've not seen anything that says it's going to be free (though a couple of posters have said that's what they'd like). I'm not saying it won't be, but not sure how well TfL paying for data would go down when there's cuts elsewhere.

Anyone remember when there were going to be 4000 Countdown II signs (up from the current ~1800 to 2500 now)?

Most free wifi services I've encountered have advertisement as other people have said. usually an advert is displayed for 5 seconds of a move must be watched or something like that once every half an hour or something.
