The DLR trains are supposed to be automatically driven. But when I last travelled on the DLR (in late 2005) all the ones I went on were manually driven. Any explanation?

The DLR service I went on had the Passenger Service Assistant as per norm but the train was manually driven, just to clarify.
I don't know

A few months ago I was one out of Bank that was manually driven up to the next station. There was then the door operator as well. In fact I had never seen so many staff on or around the platforms. This was mis morning.
