SWR website lists all routes as good service, on their live travel updates. So why is this service not running?
Thanks

Engineering work. Reading and Windsor trains diverted via Kingston, reversing at Twickenham. Shuttle train Kingston to Barnes.

'Good service' means they are running fine to the amended one (including rail replacement buses which may or not be...).

I'd say most "normals" - and me - would think that a good service, with no qualification, means the service as per the regular timetable. If there are engineering changes, that really ought to be flagged explicitly when checking how a service is running.

A cross-reference would be sensible - though I wonder how many "normals" know the weekend timetable without checking. Obviously the OP does.

I'd think lots of people know the basic service pattern for a line they use occasionally - or if it's a "several times an hour" connection it's turn up and go anyway. So if they check for any on-the-day SNAFUs, the lack of any might imply the regular pattern that they're used to. For a user, a lengthy diversion because of planned engineering work is much the same as a broken down train suddenly blocking the route for an hour. So checking that all's well before setting off shouldn't lead to misleading information, which it implicitly is if the info given is "it's fine".
