The branch currently has a speed restriction of 30mph which means trains take about an extra 15 minutes.
If the branch operated with an hourly interval it would run fairly smoothly but they have been cancelling some of the trains, which means the crossings at North Fambridge go out of synch.
On Saturday I was waiting on a train at Wickford and watching the online signalling diagrams. The up train just arrived at North Fambridge as the down train departed from Wickford so they had to wait about 20 minutes for the single track section to clear.
Also there are no announcements or nformation at stations about the replacement buses.

There was talk of a tamper being available on Wednesday to start remedial work on the track but not sure if that’s still the case. Not sure why the 120 minute timetable is in place unless it’s for crewing purposes. Been going on a while now.

Latest update is that works may lead to some improvement gradually as they progress but passengers should expect the current delays & rail/bus arrangements to continue until Friday 16th September.
