Why is Temple Shut?

Yesterday my train went through Temple without stopping. Is the station shut and if so then why?

Temple is currently open Mon-Fri 7am to 7pm.

There are still lots of stations closed or open for reduced hours due to Covid (reduced availability of staff). More and more are opening each week or going back to full hours.

Occasionally stations are shut and trains run through if there's some incident (e.g. fire alert). I don't know if that was the case here, though.

It was probably a little after 1900 so that would explain it.

Yes, I can remember when it was closed on Sundays around the 70s & 80s.

It is closed at present on Saturday and Sunday’s. It is only open Monday - Friday 0700-1900

Closed on Sundays until 7 May 2005. (closures not shown on maps before 1961)

I was surprised tonight at how many stations are still only open 7am to 7pm weekdays. Goodge Street for example is hardly some out in the sticks station

Indeed Camden seems badly affected, it seems strange that Chalk Farm, Hampstead and Swiss Cottage have all got significant restrictions as well when stations further out and quieter are all fully open.

Chalk Farm finally reopens from this Monday 14 September M-F 0700-1900; from Sunday, Hampstead is open weekends too 0700-1900.

Indeed Camden seems badly affected, it seems strange that Chalk Farm, Hampstead and Swiss Cottage have all got significant restrictions as well when stations further out and quieter are all fully open.

Do not forget that many of the stations “further out” in particular can remain open even if they are unstaffed (or staff of a lower grade are available). This also applies to a handful of zone 1/2 stations, but the frequency of sub-surface stations is greater in this area.
