They make a big noise but every time I touch the vents nothing is coming out of them, and I’ve been on quite a few now.

Do Greater Anglia never turn the a/c on or are the units all faulty?

Having travelled on many 158s, 159s, 166s, IETs, Desiros, Voyagers and Pendolinos etc. this and last summer, they all have working air con that blasts properly.

Is GA aware of this issue? The Stadlers are a bit better although not that powerful so I’m thinking it’s only an Aventra problem.

I always find the AC on the 720s to be effective, I've never felt anything other than comfortable to be fair. Aside from the abysmal cramped seating obviously.

I've never had a problem with them. Last week one car of my 745 had no aircon but the driver announced that several times and there were plenty of seats elsewhere.

But is it actually hot? Just because they're not blasting air out of vents doesn't mean that they're not keeping the saloon cool...

Possibly having a competition with the fleet on Chiltern Railways to see which Toc can be the hottest this summer. Chiltern Railways fleet verses Great Anglia 720s. Chiltern Railways fleet are dire this year. However Possible design fault on the 720 Vents maybe. New found issues maybe in the heat particularly on 720s, as these are stable traction now 321s are gone. And maybe now hot summers are common ac faults on 720 not noticed before. Certainly are now.

The air is blasted through the vents where the doors are and all of them have working AC including the one I'm on now

I’ve not had a problem with them yet, although they sometimes slightly rattle. But nothing beats the renatus units when it comes to air con!

What unit were you on?

When they were first introduced, I did Southend-Shenfield on a pair. The air con didn't work in any of the 10 carriages and it was very warm. Very cramped and uncomfortable, plus not a single bin anywhere on the stupid things except in the bogs. I've tried to avoid the awful things ever Since!

Bins are in every carriage at every doorway, so plenty throughout the train!

Never had any issue with AC on the 720s, have always found it very good and very welcome when boarding on a warm day.
