Why does Crossrail finish so early in the evening?

The last Paddington to Abbey Wood train is 22:58.

The last Abbey Wood to Paddington train is 23:03.

Considering all the London Underground lines and even National Rail lines seem to have last trains between 00:00 and 01:00 it seems rather appalling that Crossrail has such an early finish.

Does anyone know if this is permanent or will later trains be eventually added?

It's because they haven't finished 'works' yet; that continues overnight and on Sundays (except Jubilee weekend Sunday) until through running starts in the autumn. So trains stop earlier than they might to give the correct access time.

I wouldn’t take much as gospel in terms of Crossrail currently. Those sorts of things will increase as time goes on and the full route is linked up.

Hours of operation & full weekend working will all happen in time. Remember this is just the first phase.

I don't think anyone will be surprised if full service is delayed further, or never meets what was said. After all, this is Crossrail.

When's that full Thameslink service coming?

It's a temporary timetable for the opening weeks / months. Other ECS moves happen before 0630 & after 2300 some of which will be converted to passenger services in due course. Probably in early Autumn.

When trains through through from the East & West, there will also be earlier & later services.

I look at it far more positively. I was very impressed this morning & Thameslink is only waiting the extra routes like Maidstone-Cambridge which where put on hold. All the important parts are running now.

All good things are worth waiting for.

A clue might be on the TfL Elizabeth line timetable page
One of them is marked until 13th June 2022
Which rather confirms initial timetable is temporary

So looks like services are changing after the mid June weekend closure

The change in mid-June is only on the western side, to reflect the fact that Heathrow Terminal 4 will be reopening to passengers, having been closed for the last 2 years.
