Why do SWR not announce midweek engineering works

Sorry if this is the wrong place, feel free to move.

I booked to see a show with a friend on 4th Feb. I booked in November so engineering wasn't out but checked as soon as published in December and nothing showing. Get towards the end of December and start looking at trains and last direct one is 21:35! far to risky for a show finishing at 21:00. Nothing in their planned improvement page. I moved it a week earlier after checking the 22:05 was running but now realise that is last train! so riskier than I would like but I can't move it all again.

I know I can check Real Train Times and journey planner etc... But why don't they list them the same way as weekend closures any more, I'm sure they used to. Are there just too many closures?

You haven’t given any clues about where your journey is to or from but this item in National Rail Enquiries (‘Buses replace late night trains between Basingstoke and Southampton Central from Monday 2 to Thursday 5 February’) matches your date and timings.

Sorry, original plan 3rd Feb Waterloo to Eastleigh, rearranged plan 27th Jan - I'll have a look at the national rail version as that seems to cover it! I just got used to relying on the SWR one (and don't go midweek that often!)

Just had a look on National Rail enquiries for 27th Jan and nothing listed but the 23:05 (my normal train home after a show!) is only listed as going as far as Winchester on Real Time Trains.

There is a RRB scheduled to start at Winchester on that day that drops off at Eastleigh. Train is due in to Winchester at 00:11, RRB scheduled at 00:18. One would hope that the RRB would wait beyond that if the incoming service is delayed!

Thanks, really wondering why SWR don't list it (and even National Rail don't list the 27th) unless you start actual journey planning. I guess its a small percentage affected but if I go to London for the day I'm that percentage!

It’s a lot easier to fix communication problems than it is to change maintenance and renewal strategies.
So, just make it clear that there won’t be any trains (subject to advising about RRBs or alternative routes as applicable).

Yes please! I like the layout on swr site, just needs to feel complete
