There used to be a clockface three tph out of Euston but now we have an 09:08 and an 09:14, then nothing until 09:53, then a 10:13 and 10:16, then an 11:04 and 11:07. Why are they a) so bunched up and b) why has the second Avanti become a glorified LNR service talking two and a half hours a la the LNER KX - York stopper? The timetable was fantastic for many years so why did they have to go and ruin something that worked perfectly for so long?

To expand - the line is closed at Coventry today. Therefore there are no trains from Euston to Birmingham New St. The Manchester via Crewe therefore calls additionally at Watford, Milton Keynes and Rugby to provide those stations with the calls that would otherwise be in the xx16 Birmingham train. This means it has to depart Euston in the path of the xx16 Birmingham.

Normally services for Manchester from Euston depart xx13, xx33, xx53.
