Why can't Transpennine Express staff their stations?

Today according to a post on X - Brough, Northallerton and Grimsby limited hours.

Grimsby was limited hours yesterday too.

So putting the responsibility for everything(in particular Disabled assistance) on Onboard staff, is this what Transpennine want? Cost Cutting again?

Not enough staff to cover holidays sorry. At least we are still working long hours to try and cover as much as possible. But working 10 days in a row and long shifts is taking its toll sadly.

lazy, good for nothing railway staff. Stealing from Grannies winter fuel payment and wanting holidays/time off. Why cant you work 72 hours a day 12 days a week. A disgrace

As I always say: not everything is a conspiracy. Sometimes it is just that staff levels are low, people are away/unwell and cover cant be arranged. It happens to all businesses form time to time.

There is a discussion about staffing levels to be had, but not on the basis it is a con or a fiddle in some way.

PS - these are small stations and it is good they have staff.

Can't speak for Transpennine but I know a few other TOCs didn't advertise for vacancies when it was expected ticket offices would close last year. This resulted in ticket offices being closed when they shouldn't have been. Since them it seems to be the accepted norm that ticket offices can simply be closed for sickness, leave etc and the DFT seems to have little interest in doing anything about it.

Places like Brough and Northallerton don’t exactly have massive labour markets either. The people with the right aptitudes to be working as booking office staff can probably find other work without the early starts, late finishes and getting it in the neck from passengers when the service falls down.

You think that's bad you should see South Eastern. Dozens of stations each day are understaffed with ticket offices closed and/or completely unstaffed when they should be. At times it's nearing triple digits.
