Yeah but if you are going to Central you'd have decided that before leaving the stadium as it's in the opposite direction to Wembley Park. The good thing about Preston Road is that 1] you can just carry on walking after weighing up the queues at Wembley Park and 2] it's not as obvious an alternative destination to people who don't know the area (and Wembley attracts more out of towners than most) as it's not got the word Wembley in its name.
The only down side at Preston Road is the Met football service timetable which a:ways runs for events at Wembley of which 50% of trains run fast from Harrow to Wembley on the fast track and miss out Preston Road.

Still provides a train approx every 5/6 mins.

Friend of mine is a Chiltern planner. They have several "base" event plans that they manipulate to best suit the day and time of the event. Strengthening occurs where possible, and Wembley is added as an additional stop in all trains after a certain time. Trains are ran later than normal. It is very very wrong to say they make no effort.

You also have the issue where they are told by the organisers what the expected finish time is, so the longest services are slotted in to a time bracket after the event to sop up the majority of the crowd. If it overruns (such as extra time or penalties in the case of football) then a chunk of the strengthened services have gone with no one on them. You then complain it ramped up too early and no one cared to think about what could happen in the game.
If you ran the strengthening plan on the basis of it going to ET and Pens and it doesn't, you've got up to an hour to wait before the full enhanced service kicks in. And you'd then complain about how it didn't start ramping up soon enough.

Of course, all the planning in the world cannot fully mitigate the effects on the service of an incident such as a fatality. And, at the end of the day, if you've got to queue a bit longer than you'd hoped, who cares? Have some empathy for those affected by it more than you.

Would there be a possibility of having two possible paths for some trains to come off Wembley depot to cover the possibility of extra time?

Is that Wembley Chiltern specific - It’s done elsewhere with either/or diagrams? Not for the whole base of course but for various specials.
Surely it can be planned, but then as soon as it gets to the day itself it's no longer really feasible to change it. The Chiltern Line is a two-track railway with a couple of passing loops by way of platforms off the 'through road' and some reversing sidings. It's simply not practicable to expect them to change the "peak" of their service at the drop of a hat, and in fact it feels a little selfish to me that people expect everyone else who uses the line to be inconvenienced because the event they are attending can't make its mind up over when the event will finish.

I'm often surprised at just how good a service Chiltern manage to rustle up given the limitations they have!

Nice bit of planning...today the 15.34 down dep from Wembley stadium after a game that attracted 75k+ they thought it ok to put on a 3 car unit!

Do these people actually understand their job,or do they just pick the next train out of a hat.

Piss poor planner

And The 11.12 up ( 6 mins late at South ruislip) had 5 on but it was wedged to the point of uncomfortable.
DONT say wait for the next one it is a 30 min service

Shame really as i thought Chiltern was a well run railway. I suppose thats what happen when its bring your kid to work day and let them take over

Thank god, what the railway needs right now is yet another armchair critic. Send your CV to Chiltern ASAP, their train planning department clearly needs your limitless expertise.
